Wilbur Chapman

January 21, 1913 — November 10, 2006

Mr. Wilbur Lee Chapman,93, a resident of the Belfast-Farmington Road, died Friday, November 10, 2006 at the home of his son on Holly Grove Road in the Belfast Community.

Funeral services for Mr. Chapman will be conducted Monday, November 13, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home with Tom Sumners officiating. Burial will be in the Round Hill Cemetery with military honors being provided by the Tennessee National Guard. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

The Marshall County native was the son of the late Hardy and Lometa Adams Chapman and the widower of Annie Lee Ball Chapman. He was a graduate of Belfast High School and of the Presbyterian faith. He was retired from Heil-Quaker Corporation and was a farmer for many years. Mr. Chapman proudly served our country in the United States Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II.

He is survived by a son, Roger Lee Betty Chapman of the Belfast Community; a grandson, Douglas Chapman of Columbia, TN; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Keith Chapman; 2 brothers, Jim T. Chapman and William Thurman Chapman; a sister, Earleane Ledford.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Haynes, Earl Haynes, Wayne Haynes, Elgin Ball, Jr., Max McElhaney, Ken McElhaney, and Phil McElhaney. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Jones, Jimmy Chapman, Bill Gold, Parks Gold, and Joe L. Gentry.
