Virginia Ray Lasater, age 93 of Murfreesboro, formerly of Lewisburg, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013, in The Health Center at Adams Place in Murfreesboro. A native of Marshall County, Mrs. Lasater was the daughter of the late James Ray and Lucille McClary Ray. She was a homemaker and a charter member of East Commerce Baptist Church where she was a pianist for over thirty years. Mrs. Lasater was also a member of the Rock Creek Bible Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lasater, Sr., who passed away in 1994, three brothers, George, James, and Bobby Ray.
She is survived by two sons, Richard (Sandra) Lasater of Murfreesboro and Leslie James (Jan) Lasater of Portland, one daughter, Elizabeth Kaye (Robert) McDaniel of Nashville, and two sisters, Betty Ray Hendricks of Reidland, Kentucky and Elizabeth Ramsey of Nashville. Seven grandchildren, Rebecca (Bruce) Francisco, Beth Lasater, Bonnie Lasater (Bill) Bell, Lee Lasater, Scott (Jenny) Lasater, Tate (Emma) McDaniel, and Carrie (Bryan) Smith, five great-grandchildren, Riley McDaniel, Mary Charles McDaniel, Libby McDaniel, Cate McDaniel, and Julia Smith also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lasater will be Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at 3 PM at East Commerce Baptist Church with Bro. James Hickey and Bro. Carl Price officiating. Burial will follow in Headsprings Cemetery in Belfast. Visitation with family will be Tuesday, September 24, 2013, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home and on Wednesday beginning at 2 PM at the church.
