'Miss Tommie' Thompson, 81, local artist and resident of Old Farmington Drive, died Sunday, December 24, 2017, at Vanderbilt Medical Center .
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Born March 15, 1936, in Winston Salem, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Leo Edwards and the late Irene Forrester. She married Ralph Calvin Thompson, who preceded her in death on April 28, 2008. Miss Tommie was a self taught oil painter who had been painting for over 60 years, and especially enjoyed painting saws. She was a proud member of the Marshall County Art Guild, and was honored as Artist of the Month in February of 2017. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Teresa 'Terri' (Travis) Foster of Petersburg; grandchildren, Jesse Foster, Kaylee Foster; sisters, Sandra Lee Glass of Fort Payne, Alabama, Jane Barker of Lexington, North Carolina; brothers, Jerry Wayne Edwards of Lewisburg, Steve Patrick Edwards of Fort Payne, Alabama.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Susie Kiser and Daniel Leo Edwards J.r.
Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
