Following a brief illness, Mrs. Thelma Lea Moore, age 79 of Cornersville, passed away Wednesday evening in NHC-Lewisburg.
A native of Benton Co., AR, she was daughter of the late Charles Jackson and Rhoda Sharp Bequette. She married Ed D. Moore in 1949, and had celebrated 49 years of marriage at the time of his death in 1998. Mrs. Moore received her bachelors degree from the Univ. of Arkansas, and completed her Masters of Education at Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville. She spent 33 years as a public school teacher, with 25 of those years at Cornersville School as a 3rd grade teacher. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Cornersville First Baptist Church, the Marshall County Retired Teachers Association, and the VFW Ladies Auxillary.
She is survived by her four children: Mary Elizabeth Moore of Tulsa, OK, George Ed Beverly Moore of Battle Ground, IN, Frank Sam Nancy Moore of Kirkwood, MO, and Jim Dye SueMoore of Perry, GA; and one sister: Charlene Rutherford of Gentry, AR. Six grandchildren: Daniel, Andrew, Christine, Catherine, Parker, and Edward Moore, also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 PM on Friday, Feb. 3 at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home.
Mrs. Moore will lie in state on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Cornersville First Baptist Church. A eulogy and celebration service will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 4 at 2:00 PM from the Cornersville First Baptist Church. Interment will follow beside her husband in Beechwood Cemetery.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Beechwood Cemetery Association or the Marshall County Memorial Library.
Bills McGaugh Funeral Home and the United States Forest Service have provided for the planting of a tree in memory of Mrs. Moore.
