Terry Lee Deering, age 62 of Columbia, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2014 at his residence after an extended illness. Mr. Deering was born in Nashville, was retired from B&R Tool, and was the son of the late Willie Deering and Bessie Miles ODell. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Richard ODell and a sister, Kay Pouder.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Griffis Deering of Columbia; one son, Brian Deering of Rockford, IL; one step-daughter, Melissa (Larry) Kelley of Culleoka; three step-sons, David Collins of Columbia, Chucky (Stephanie) Collins, and Sam (Wendy) Collins, both of Lewisburg; one sister, Jane Horvatha of Tempe, AZ; three brothers, Larry (Linda) Deering of Wartrace, David (Lynn) ODell of Unionville, and Peter (Debbie) ODell of Chapel Hill; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one niece, one nephew, and one special friend, Chris Cates.
Funeral services for Mr. Deering will be held Sunday, September 28, 2014, at 1 PM at the Chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home with Edd Luna officiating. Burial will follow in Diana Cemetery in the Diana Community. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home.
