Robert John Gillespie, 53, of Franklin, died February 27, 2017, in Brentwood.
He was born February 1, 1964, in Bowling Green, Ohio to Robert L. Gillespie and Joyce L. Vail. His father and stepmother, Jean Gillespie, survive in Lima, Ohio. His mother and stepfather, Greg Weaver, survive in Mocksville, North Carolina.
Mr. Gillespie was a polysomnographic technician in Nashville. He was a U.S. Army Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, 2/504. He was a graduate of Bluffton High School and Lima Technical College. He loved aggravating his wife, Krogering to take advantage of yellow tag discount specials, music, fireworks, motorcycles and making people laugh. Robert will be sorely missed by his family, friends, AA felowship and fellow Paratroopers.
Survivors also include his wife Michelle Gillespie, of Franklin, Tennessee, his son Keegan Gillespie and daughter Grace Gillespie; his brother Adam Joseph (Andrea) Gillespie, of Harrod, Ohio; three stepbrothers, Dan (Arletta) Bradford, of Columbus, Ohio, John (Nancy) Schaub, of Ottawa, Ohio and Jeff (Laura) Schaub, of Lima, Ohio; an aunt, Sharon Gillespie of Bowling Green, Ohio; 11 nieces and nephews, Kade and Silas Gillespie, Garrett Nance, Nick and Kaeley Bradford, John, Luke and Ben Schaub, and Gabe, Summer and Kacey Schaub; four cousins, Lindy Avery, Brett Eckhart, Brad (Rachel) Eckhart and Jocelyn Eckhart; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Westerhaus; sister-in-law, Melissa (David) Nance.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Alex Gillespie, grandparents, W. Robert and June Gillespie and John L. "Tommy" and Eva Vail.
The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4th at Unity Church of Nashville, 5125 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN 37220.
