A beloved wife and mother, Mary Lou Carter Brown, age 100, of Lewisburg, TN passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Lebanon Health and Rehabilitation in Lebanon, TN. Mrs. Brown was the widow of Dr. Kenneth Payne Brown, Jr. who passed away in March of 1980. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a homemaker, a past Regent of DAR, and a member of the National Society of Magna Charta Dames.
Mary Lou was born in 1916 in Opp, Alabama to the late S. M. and Minnie Ola Taylor Carter. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Kenneth Payne Brown, III, a sister, Ola Mae Holsten, and two brothers, Dr. S. M. Carter and Dr. W. A. Carter.
She is survived by her daughter, Anna (Bob) Lannom of Lebanon, TN, four grandchildren, Cynthia Dake Burkitt, Mary Tara Keith, Robert Payne Lannom, Mark Patton Brown and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm noon. Graveside services will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville on June 15, 2016 at 2:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Lewisburg, TN, 122 Second Avenue North, Lewisburg, TN 37091.
