Margaret Allen Jordan, age 97, of Lewisburg, TN, a long time resident of Village Manor Assisted Living, passed away August 7, 2016 at her nieces home in Columbia, TN.
Born June 3, 1919 Mrs. Jordan was the daughter of the late Kenny and Pearl Harwell Allen. She was a graduated from Marshall County High School in 1938. She received her BS degree from Middle TN State College in Murfreesboro and her Masters degree from George Peabody College. She was a retired school teacher with forty years in education. Twenty six of those years were in elementary (5th grade) education, fourteen years as a Special Education Supervisor and Title One Program in Marshall County. Mrs. Jordan was a member of Marshall Co. Retired Teacher Association, a former member of Beta Kappa Gamma and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church as well as UMW, Historical Society, DAR, Marshall County Art Guild, with whom she held many awards. She enjoyed teaching, church work, art, gardening, traveling, family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Jordan, sister, Sara Allen Jones and her nephew, Jack Allen Jones. She is survived by her niece and longtime caregiver, Charlotte Jones (fianc, Ken Jerrolds) of Columbia, TN, three great-nieces, Jacquelyn (Robert) Applegate, of Lyles, Jeannette (Travis) Rorabaugh of Chapel Hill, Melanie (Chris) Sisco of Murfreesboro, a great-nephew, Allen Jones, of Columbia, a great-great niece, Abby Rorabaugh and great-great nephews William Rorabaugh, Chase and Hunter Sisco. Also surviving are in-law nieces, Lynda Jordan (Steve) Prince, Brenda (Ronnie) Brown, in-law nephews, Ken (Melanie) Jordan, all of Lewisburg and Ray (Elaine) Jordan of Pulaski, cousins, Nancy (Jimmy) Pruitt, Angie Phifer, Lila Ann (Jerry) Yerks, all of Lewisburg, Bill (Nancy) Allen of Wisconsin, Anna (Dexter) Furr, Stanley (Lynda) Furr of Mississippi, and very special friends, Kathy Davidson and Sherry Hunter.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted August 9, 2016 at 5:00 PM in Lone Oak Cemetery with Mark Irwin officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services in the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home at 4:00 PM.
Active pallbearers will be Allen Jones, Robert Applegate, Travis Rorabaugh, Chris Sisco, Ken Jordan and Ray Jordan. Honorary pallbearers will be David Sanders, Drew Davidson, Jimmy Jones, Russell Smith, and the staff and residents of Village Manor.
