Leonard Wayne Jean, age 94 of Lewisburg, TN, departed this world on March 12, 2023. He was born in Akron, OH on June 7, 1928, to the late Lawrence Burnam and Flora Rambo Jean.
He graduated as Class President from Marshall County High School (MCHS). During his years in school, he was an avid Tiger football player under the coach, Folk Lambert, which he admired greatly. Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger. He went on to instruct many students over the years and retired from teaching Industrial Electronics at the vocational school in Shelbyville. He was also a beloved baseball coach to many.
Wayne was a devout Christian man, baptized on April 17, 1938, at the First United Methodist Church in Lewisburg. Later in life, he became involved in youth ministries by teaching Junior High Sunday school, and he also taught Men’s Bible Class.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred “Vivian” Jean; his brother, Lilburn Jean; and his sister, Selene Woodward. He is survived by his sons, Harold Lynn (Tina) Jean of Turin, GA and Randall Wayne Jean (Twila Williams) of Lewisburg; daughter, Belinda Ann (Mark) Mangrum of Lewisburg; grandchildren, Daniel Jean, Stephanie Norman, Laura Lynn Jean, Jamie Jean, Camille Copeland, and Amanda B. Jean; step grandchildren; Jessica Flippo and Meagan Maynard; great grandchildren, Langston James Norman, London Jae Norman, Vivian Grace Copeland, Parker Lee Copeland, and Abigail Louise Jean; 6 step great grandchildren and many more family and friends.
Visitation for Wayne will be Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 4 to 7 pm at the chapel of Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Lewisburg, TN at noon on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church in Lewisburg until the funeral hour of 1 pm. Pastor Brad Holliman will officiate the service and on behalf of the family, Dr. Stanley Murphy will be speaking. The pallbearers are James Norman, Dr. Stanley Murphy, Justin Copeland, Steve Anderson, Daniel Jean, and Jamie Jean. The burial will follow at Lone Oak Cemetery.
