Joyce Elaine Phipps, age 84, of Lewisburg, went to be with the Lord on July 16, 2023.
She was born June 22, 1939, in Huntington, WV to the late Robert and Evelyn Cox. She was proceeded in death by her husband Rev. Samuel Phipps, son John Phipps, brother Bobby Cox and sisters Carolyn Pruitt and Sharon Rice.
She married her childhood sweetheart December of 1960. She was a devoted pastor’s wife, piano teacher, and receptionist for Dr. Melvin Lewis for 17 years. She was a member of the Shelbyville First Church of the Nazarene. She loved the Lord and devoted her life to spreading the Word of God.
She is survived by her daughter Gina (Bob) Johnson of Cornersville; daughter-in-law Sandra (John) Phipps; brothers Roger (Dorothy) Cox of Kentucky and Johnny Cox of Texas, grandchildren Deanna (Brad) Smith of Summertown, Scott Phipps of Lewisburg; great-granddaughter Ada Clara Smith, step-grandchildren Allison Veron, Brianna Davis; six step-great-grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews.
The family will have a private burial at Sunset Park, Lewisburg, TN, with Rev. Ron DeWitt and Rev. Andy Keffer officiating. No visitation is planned.
A celebration of life will be held at First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville, TN on Saturday July 22, 2023, at 5:00 pm.
