John Gary Warf, 62, resident of Mooresville, died on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 in Lewisburg.
A Graveside Service will be conducted on Sunday, February 9th at 2:00 PM at Pickens Cemetery close to his farm on Mooresville Road. The family will visit with friends on Saturday, February 8th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home.
Born on December 9, 1957 in Newport News, Virginia, he was the son of the late Melvin A. Warf and the late Katherine Beasley Warf. He grew up farming and playing football in Cornersville, continuing to farm in the Mooresville community. He enjoyed truck pulling, watching high school football, and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren. He worked for the corrugated paper industry for 20 years, retiring as maintenance supervisor. He later went to work at Cornersville High School, fully enjoying the relationships he made with the staff and students there.
Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Frye Warf; two sons, Daniel (Lacey) Warf and children Hartlyn and Lathan, John (Colleen) Warf and children, Alivia Warf, Eli and Savannah Alexander; one sister, Frances “Sissy” (Charlie) Nichols, one sister-in-law, Emily Warf and niece (but more like a daughter) Kris; two brothers, Seth (Vanessa) Warf, Kenny Warf, and six other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Allen Warf.
Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers.
