Mrs. Ida Carlee Baxter Barron, age 83 of Lewisburg,Tennessee passed away on March 9, 2016 at her residence in Lewisburg. Carlee was born on June 4, 1932 to George and Buena Turner Baxter who precede her in death. Mrs. Barron was the widow of Don Barron and is a member of the Church Street Church of Christ.
Her survivors include two daughters Ida Tindell of the Berlin Community in Lewisburg and Amy Barron also of Lewisburg, one granddaughter Caitlin Messick of Lewisburg and one grandson Thomas Tindell of Berlin.
Carlee was a 1950 graduate of MCHS and a graduate of Peabody College with a BS and MA in elementary education. She taught for seven years in Nashville City Schools and 25 years in the Marshall County School System before her retirement in 1993. Carlee served as the President of the Marshall County Retired Teachers and the Marshall County Education Associations. She was a 60 year member of Delta Kappa Gamma and a lifetime member of the National Education Association. She taught first and second grades at Hardison and MES in Marshall County.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening March 10, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Services for Mrs. Barron will be Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lone Oak Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Tindell, Thomas Tindell, Terry Tucker, Jerry Baxter, Ernest Henegar and Codi Messick.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Marshall Co. Retired Teachers Assn., friends of MCHS Class of 1950, special friends, Marlene Cooper and Ladelle and Helen Smith.
