Biography
Mrs. Frances Amanda Rutledge Cater, age 79, of Petersburg, passed away on August 1, 2011 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

A native of Petersburg, TN, she was the daughter of the late Mary L. Jones and Andrew J. Murdock. She was a retired school teacher and was a member of the NAMI, ASPA and St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the Women's Homeless Shelter.

Mrs. Cater is preceded in death by her husbands Winston Rutledge and Bain Cater, one son Winston Rutledge Jr. and a sister Elizabeth Owen.

Survivors include two sisters, Margaret Adams of Fayetteville and Jean (Joel) Dyer of Fayetteville and one brother John (Mary Sue) Murdock of Petersburg. Several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.

Graveside services for Mrs. Cater will be conducted on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 5:00 PM from Talley Cemetery in Petersburg.

Visitation with the family will begin on Thursday afternoon August 4, 2011 at 2:30 PM until 4:30 PM.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill or The Kodiak Humane Society.
