Mrs. Emma Ann Osteen, age 94, died Monday afternoon, May 31, 2004 at her residence in the Hardison Mill Community of Marshall County.
Mrs. Osteen was the daughter of the late John and Julia Massey Echols and was adopted and raised by Dave and Elizabeth Sullenger. Mrs. Osteen graduated from the Nashville General Hospital School of Nursing in 1930, and married Joseph Thomas Jodie Osteen the following year. As a Registered Nurse, she worked at Vanderbilt Medical Center and Maury Regional Hospital for a number of years. In the late 1950s, she became the night supervisor at Leonards Hospital, remaining there until her retirement about 1973.
She is survived by a daughter: Joan Osteen Frye of the Hardison Mill Community; two grandchildren: LeeAnn Frye of Hardison Mill and Joe Frye Jr. of Pulaski; four great-grandchildren: Dana Ytzen and Holly Ytzen of Hendersonville, Jessica Frye of Hopkinsville, KY, and Joseph Riley Frye of Pulaski; and a step-great-grandchild: Ryan Brumitt of Pulaski.
The family requests memorial gifts be made to the Hospice of the Highland Rim in Columbia, TN.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Bills McGaugh Funeral Home, officiated by Hank Shelton. Burial will follow in the Allen Cemetery in the Caney Springs Community of Marshall County.
The family will be at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home after 5:00 PM Tuesday for visitation, and Wednesday until the funeral hour.
