Mrs. Ellen Marie Thompson Southerland, age 78 of Lewisburg, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2010 at St. Thomas Hospital Alive Hospice
A native of Giles County, she was the daughter of the late Altmon Tinker Thompson and Lillie Pearl Daly Thompson. She was married to the late William Bruce Southerland for 57 years and a retired employee of Moon Products and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son Gary Paul Southerland, two brothers Tillman Thompson and Alton Thompson, two sisters Louise Wood and Francis Beard, one grandson William Bradley Southerland, and a grand daughter Rhonda Denise Fuller.
Survivors include three daughters Joyce Banks of Giles County, Betty Jo Fuller and Lawanda Fralix both of Lewisburg, three sons Robert Houston Southerland, Charles Dickie Southerland and William Edward Southerland all of Lewisburg, one stepson William Henry Southerland of Athens, AL. Fifteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Southerland will be conducted on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Bills McGaugh Funeral Home with Thomas B. Sumners officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Elkton, TN.
Visitation with the family will begin on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home and after 9:00 AM on Wednesday.
