Dorris Wayne Weaver

Dorris Wayne Weaver, 61, of Cornersville, Tennessee passed away peacefully in his home on March 5, 2024, surrounded by family. Dorris Wayne Weaver was born in Lewisburg Tennessee on February 12, 1963. He proudly served as Marshall County Register of Deeds since 2002. At the time of his passing, he was in the middle of his sixth term in office. Dorris Wayne Weaver or D.W. as he was often called, enjoyed spending time with his family, supporting community events, working on home improvement projects, traveling, and watching sports. He never met a stranger and was always willing to go out of his way to help anyone. He will be dearly missed and always remembered.

During his life Dorris Wayne had many accomplishments. He was a graduate of Marshall County High School, class of 1982. Following High School, he joined the TN Army National Guard and was Chief Administrative Officer and Quartermaster Officer and achieved the rank of Captain before retiring after serving seventeen years. 

After winning the seat of Marshall County Register of Deeds he became a Certified Public Administrator, served as President of the Register of Deeds Association of Tennessee, and was awarded the Outstanding Register Award. Dorris Wayne served as president of the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce and a graduate of Leadership Marshall. He also officiated High School Football. Dorris Wayne was a member of East commerce Baptist Church and he had a love for service in his community.

Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, March 8, 2024, at Bills McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home with burial following at Lone Oak Cemetery with Bro Rick Rolin will be officiating. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Craig Blackwell, Keith Hollingsworth, Matt Collins, Randy Delap, Johnny Reed, and Fred Stacey. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 7. 2023 at Bills McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home and will resume at 11:00 AM Friday, March 8, 2024, until the funeral hour of 1:00 PM. 

Dorris Wayne Weaver was predeceased in death by his parents Dorris and Cathleen Darnell Weaver. He is survived by his wife Rita Anne Wade Weaver; daughter, Savannah Grace Weaver; son, Benjamin Wade Weaver; sisters, Anita Faye Lee (Freddie); Jamie Kay Maynard (Bill); nephew, Dustin Lee; and niece, Jennifer Maynard. He also leaves behind Hubble his one-year-old beloved lab.
