LIGGETT, BILLY SPAIN
Mr. Billy Spain Liggett, age 89, a resident of Lewisburg, died Sunday 09/12/10 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Services for Mr. Liggett will be conducted at 2pm Tuesday, Sept. 14th at the chapel of Bills and McGaugh Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 30 minutes prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
A native of Marshall County, Mr. Liggett retired from Whirlpool as a tool-and-die worker, worked at NAPA Auto Parts, and was a 27-year veteran of the Air Force. Mr. Liggett was a member of the Fortress group, which led the American Bombing attack on targets in Berlin, and, was cited by the President for its outstanding bombing assault on railroad marshalling yards at Munster, Germany in October 1943.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by: Wife- Clatie Massey Liggett, of Lewisburg. A sister-in-law and several nieces and cousins also survive.
