Alvin Winston Rutledge Jr, age 52, formerly of Lewisburg, died Wednesday, July 6 at his home in Kodiak, Alaska.
A native of Marshall County, Winston was the son of Alvin Winston Rutledge who preceded him in death and Frances Murdock Rutledge Cater of Kodiak, Alaska. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Blain Cater.
Winston was educated in Lewisburg and Nashville, and received his Associates Degree from Kodiak College. He was a communicant of the Catholic Church and an avid reader. He was a knowledgable coin collector and excellent chess player, and enjoyed traveling.
Winston is survived by his mother: Frances Murdock Cater and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will be at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home on Thursday from 6:00 8:00 PM for visitation, and again on Friday from 4:00 5:30 PM at which time the funeral procession will depart.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday evening at 6:00 PM in the Talley Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Claude McMillion.
Bills McGaugh Funeral Home and the United States Forest Service have provided for the planting of a tree in Winston's memory.
